1st-Team All-PCC Guard Mills Signs with D1 Presbyterian
June 6, 2008 - Clinton, SC - Presbyterian College Head Coach Ronnie Fisher has announced the signing of San Diego Mesa's 1st-Team All-Conference guard, Amanda Mills.
Mills had narrowed her choices down to Presbyterian, Mount St. Mary's College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and the University of Dallas.
"Presbyterian was the best fit for me," said Mills. "I loved everything about it. And to have the opportunity to pursue my degree in Medicine while playing Division 1 basketball is a dream come true," concluded Mills.
Mills, who averaged 18.1 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 3.5 apg helped the Lady Olympians tie the school record for most conference wins in school history (10). She shot 44% from behind the 3 and 85% from the free-throw line.

Sophomore Griffin To Attend Dominguez Hills
San Diego, CA - Sophomore Gillian Griffin will be attending Cal State University Dominguez Hills in the fall.
A two-year player for the Olympians, Griffin is excited about the opportunity to continue playing college basketball at the next level while pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in English.
"Gil will be missed a great deal," said Head Coach Michael Hootner. "She was an absolute honor to coach. She has a passion for learning and a wonderful work ethic. She loves life and will not only be a tremendous student-athlete at Dominguez Hills, but an active and engaged member of the community," concluded Coach Hootner.

Anyone interested in playing for the Olympians should fill out the online questionnaire. If you plan on trying out for the 2008-09 Intercollegiate Women's Basketball Team, you must be enrolled in the following classes that begin the first day of school on August 25th: 1) Fitness Activities 123; CRN 42199 which meets M-Th from 1:25-2:30 and 2)Basketball 112; CRN 45505 which meets M-Th from 2:45 - 4:15.

Former Olympian and PCC MVP To Join Hootner's Staff
Shannon Schiele, a former two-sport standout for the Lady Olympian Volleyball and Basketball teams will be joining Coach Hootner's staff for the 2008-09 season. Schiele was an All-Conference Volleyball selection as well as the Women's Basketball Most Valuable Player of the Pacific Coast Conference in 2003. She later went on to star at Linfield College (OR) in Basketball and Track-and-Field before joining the United States Peace Corps where she spent two years in the Chiungutwa Village in Tanzania, Africa. 2008-09 Schedule Announced

Head Coach Michael Hootner has announced that the 2008-09 Schedule is complete. In non-conference play, the Lady Olympians will play Pasadena, Orange Coast, Saddleback, Long Beach, Victor Valley, Riverside, and Lassen. They will be in three 8-team tournaments as well beginning with the Annual Courtyard By Marriott San Diego Central Tip-Off Tournament, 11/7-9, followed by the Irvine Valley Tournament 12/11-13, and concluding with Grossmont's Holiday Tournament from 12/27-29. "We are extremely excited about the opportunities next year's schedule will provide for our girls," said Coach Hootner. "It is an extremely challenging schedule which will not only give us a barometer as to how we stack up against some of the state's best teams but also help prepare us for the rigors of conference play," concluded Coach Hootner.

Olympians Tie School Record for Most Wins In PCC History
Freshman Amanda Mills (Oregon City, OR) and Sophomore Joy Edwards (Granite Hills, San Diego, CA) were named 1st-Team All-Conference selections today as voted on by the coaches. Mills finished 3rd in the balloting while Edwards finished 6th. Mills Averaged 18.1 points per game, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals per contest in conference play while shooting 44% from 3-point range and 85% from the free throw line. Edwards averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists per contest. These two were instrumental in helping the Olympians to a 10-4 conference record, good for a second place finish (tied with Grossmont) in the Pacific Coast Conference. The 10 wins ties the school record for most wins in the history of the program during conference play. "I'm very proud of my team," said Head Coach, Michael Hootner. "To start the season 0-8 and win 7 of our last 9 games, including 10 of the last 14 is a real credit to them and speaks to the resiliency of this team. It was a great way to finish the season as we begin preparing for the 2008-09 campaign," concluded Hootner. Last season's 1st-Team All-Conference selection Kelsey Ash (Santana, San Diego, CA) earned All-Conference Honorable Mention laurels along with teammates Gillian Griffin (Federal Way, WA), Rosalie Hughes (Grace Christian, CA), and Simone Byrd (Laramie, WY).
Hootner Begins Preparations for 2008-09
Michael Hootner, who played for Mesa College (CA) from 1988-1990, begins his second year as the Lady Olympians Head Coach.
During his first year, Hootner guided his team to a second place finish (10-4) in the Pacific Coast Conference. The 10 wins tied the school record for most conference wins in school history.
