The Close Race for Playoffs!!

SD Mesa College went to playoffs in 2006. Within the last two weeks the Softball team beat Southwestern, SD City, and Imperial Valley. Their biggest win was against Palomar at Palomar on Fri. March. 5. The Olympians were down but didn't give up and had the biggest win of the year 7-4. With there 5-3 record in Pacific Coast Conference and 10-10 record overall, The Olympians are in 2nd place.

PCC Player of the Week

Kelsey McGowan, freshman outfielder and catcher received Pacific Coast Conference Player of the Week. This is out of all the other community college women sports. Kelsey has the second highest batting average out of the whole conference and is leading the Olympians in batting average .467, 28 hits, 24 runs, 7 doubles, 3 triples, 4 homeruns and 23 RBI's.

Confernce Started

PCC 2010 has began. Mesa is 1-2 and there next game is on Wed. March 3 @ home @ 3p.m. against City. Mesa pitchers have been doing an amzing job by not walking any batters and giving up less then 2 runs a game. Mesa split with IVC on Monday and lost to Grossmont on Wednesday. Freshman Natalie Smith pitched on Wed. Feb. 24 kept Grossmont to 2 earned runs but Mesa had to many mistakes.

Offensively Freshman Kelsey Mcgowan went 9 for 12 for the week with 8 runs scored, 9 RBI's and 2 HR's.

Bianca Gonzalez went 4 for 4, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI's, 1 2B, and 1 HR.

Kelsey Alvarez went 2 for 4, 1 run scored, 2 RBI's and 1 HR.

Denisse Martinez went 2 for 3, 1 run scored, 2 RBI's, and 1 HR.

Zarah Montes went 4 for 4, 2 runs scored, 1 Stolen base, and 1 2B against Grossmont.

PHILOSOPHY

We strongly believe in building a solid base of mechanics and fundamentals so that each student-athlete can improve on their abilities in the game of softball. With these skills the student-athlete can build their self-confidence and self-esteem. Our goals are to teach skills in a fun and positive environment.
