Results: Cypress College
Mesa opened up the season at home with a win over Orange Empire Conference member Cypress College, 146-124. Multi-event winners included Megan Looney in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Emily Pool won both the 50 and 100 Breaststrokes and was a member of the winning 200 Medley Relay. Leah Mitchell won both Butterfly events, 50 and 100 as well as the 200 Medley Relay. Returning state qualifier Jeanette Islas won three individual events; 50 and 100 Freestyle and 100 IM as well as anchoring the winning 200 Medley Relay. Chelsea Gadzia won the 200 IM and was second in the 100 IM and lead off the winning 200 Medley Relay. Diver Becky Tran was second in both boards.
Results: Palomar College
Mesa wins second Orange Empire Conference dual meet with win over Palomar, 132-119. The women’s 200 Medley Relay set the tone with a come from behind win by freestyler Jeanette Islas. Islas went on to win 3 individual events; 50 free, 50 Fly, 100 Free. Other multi-event winners included Emily Pool in both the 50 and 100 Breaststroke events; Chelsea Gadzia in the 200 and 100 IM. Mesa went 1-2 in both the 1 and 3 meter diving events as Megan Looney and Becky Tran scored big points for Mesa.
