Life on the Mesa College campus is rich and dynamic. Students and staff have a variety of educational, social, and cultural events and activities to engage in according to his/her needs and interests.

Drama

The Dramatic Arts Department offers the drama student an opportunity to participate in all phases of theater arts productions. The department sponsors three to four major productions per year through extracurricular activities.

Student Clubs and Organizations

The many activities sponsored by student clubs and organizations provide a rich and exciting multi-cultural dimension to college life at Mesa. While some clubs tend to be more active than others, all clubs contribute to a lively and student-oriented environment on campus.

An alphabetical listing of the active and inactive clubs at Mesa is available in the Student Affairs Office. Students who do not find a club that interests them are encouraged to start a new club.

Athletics

San Diego Mesa College is a member of the Pacific Coast Conference for the following sports: men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, men's basketball, women's softball, women's tennis, men's baseball. Participation in intercollegiate football is available in the San Diego Community College District located at Mesa College. The Pacific Coast Conference includes the following colleges: Grossmont, Imperial Valley, MiraCosta, Palomar, San Diego Mesa, and Southwestern

Students must meet academic requirements established by the California Association of Community Colleges and pass a physical examination before they are determined to be eligible to participate in Conference sports. Academic eligibility includes enrollment as a full time student during the season of the sport and a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Journalism

The college newspaper, "Mesa Press," is an outgrowth of journalism courses. It provides the serious journalism student with an opportunity to participate in a functioning college paper offering experience in reporting, photography, and advertising
