The Institute for International Education (IIE) announces an online directory at www.StudyAbroadFunding.org to help increase diversity in study abroad. In addition to the traditional country and field of study search options, award entries are now searchable by categories such as race and ethnicity, gender, and selections for student leaders and athletes, low-income students, students with disabilities and a variety of other designations.

ARTHUR H. GOODMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND – Awards scholarships ranging from $1,500-$3,000 to minority students and working women who better their community.
California Colleges for International Education click on “enter,” click on POCCSA grant activities. $250 - $1,500 scholarships are available. Deadline is November 15 for spring programs, May 15 for fall programs.
Ask the Chamber of Commerce for names of American companies owned by foreign companies and approach these U.S. companies for money. Go to the website of these companies and look for foundation/scholarship information.
FASTWEB.COM - American college scholarship database, the internet’s largest free scholarship search.
GILMAN – This is a scholarship program funded by the Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to enable students who would not normally be able to study abroad to do so. $3,000 - $5,000 scholarships are available. Deadlines are early to mid October for the following spring and early to mid April for the following fall. These scholarships are currently not available for the summer. City College students have been awarded this scholarship every semester! You can be awarded one, too!

Go to the Office of Student Affairs to see what scholarships they are currently offering. They publish a pamphlet with a scholarship list in it in the middle of every fall semester. Other scholarship opportunities are publicized as they become available

The Gilman International Scholarship Program offers sholarships for U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies abroad. Awards recipients receive up to $5,000.
Additional $3,000 can be awarded to students studying critical need languages (for a total possible award of $8,000).

The primary goal of Freeman-ASIA, an IIE-administered award program generously funded by the Freeman Foundation, is to increase the number of U.S. undergraduates who study abroad in East and Southeast Asia by providing students with the information and financial assistance they will need. Awards amounts vary from:
up to $3,000 for a summer term
up to $5,000 for a semester/quarter term
up to $7,000 for an academic year term
Boren Schorlarships allow U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests but underrepresented in study abroad.
Elegibility
Any U.S. citizen enrolled as an undergraduate in an accredited U.S. institution may apply. Boren Scholars must complete their programs before graduation.
Study Abroad Program
Students should work with their study abroad offices or Boren campus representatives to identify the best study abroad opportunities.
Length of Study
Boren Scholarships are available for full academic year or semester programs. Longer periods are recommended and preference will be given to applicants studying abroad for at least six months.
Special initiative for Science and technology students
Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics majors may also apply for summer programs of eight weeks or longer.
